To listen to President Barack Obama in the buildup to the sequester, one could be forgiven for hoping to see Bruce Willis and Ben Affeck crash onto the scene to save the world from destruction just in the nick of time.

Axel Merk, president and chief investment oficer at Merk Investments, wasn't worried about the sequester.
That's because it wasn't going to affect him or other high fliers in the financial world, anyway.

Yes, the sequester will likely only affect the 750,000 people that will lose jobs in the next 8 months. If job growth continues just level for the next 8 months, we would have another 2,000,000 jobs created. But if we get to the end of this period, and we have only 1,250,000 jobs created, are we going to have to listen to Obama's opponents say "See, the sequester didn't hurt a thing, but look, Obama hasn't done anything for job growth!"?
