‘Night of Hope’

features Osteens

Joel and Victoria Osteen will lead “A Night of Hope” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock’s Verizon Arena. Joel Osteen is pastor of the Lakewood Church in Houston, the largest church in America with more than 40,000 in attendance each week. Osteen and his wife have filled arenas and stadiums across the country with their message of hope.

Osteen, best known for his upbeat messages, reaches a wide audience through weekly television broadcasts, podcasts, worship events and through his books. The “Night of Hope” event will include praise and worship music, encouragement from Victoria Osteen, prayer time and a message from Joel Osteen.

Cole to lead

prayer workshop

FORT SMITH - Nick Cole will lead a retreat on “The Power of Centering Prayer” Thursday through March 17 at St. Scholastica Monastery’s retreat center, 1205 S. Albert Pike Ave. The retreat will mostly be conducted in silence and will include information about centering prayer, a contemplative form of prayer, as well as opportunities to practice.

Participants are encouraged to read Open Mind, Open Heart by Thomas Keating or Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening by Cynthia Borgeault in preparation for the retreat.

Church to offer

clothing giveaway

HARRISON - Eagle Heights Baptist Church will have a “Great Garment Giveaway” 9 a.m.-2 p.m. March16. The church will give away more than 10,000 articles of brand-name women’s clothing in sizes from zero to plus. Each individual will be allowed to select up to 20 items.
