Sen. Carl Levin, 78, a Michigan Democrat and the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in an e-mailed statement that he won’t seek a seventh term in 2014 because he wants to spend the next few years working on issues “without the distraction of campaigning for reelection.”
