Gravette man held on rape charge

Posted: March 8, 2013 at 10:40 a.m.

A Gravette man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of raping a 9-year-old girl.

Alvin Jackson, 32, was being held Friday in the Benton County Jail with a $100,000 bond set. Jackson was arrested for rape, a Class Y felony.

The investigation began as a result of a report to the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline concerning the 9-year-old girl being sexually abused, according to court documents.

The girl was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County where she gave details of the abuse and named Jackson as her abuser, according to a probable cause affidavit. The girl reported that the abuse began when she was 4 years old, the affidavit states.

Jackson’s arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. April 15 before Circuit Judge Robin Green.
