Are they insane? These prices are nowhere close to reasonable. The cost to take my family for 1 day to the aquatic center that is 6 blocks from my house is the same amount for a full season pass to the Bentonville pool. I know where our money will be spent!

Lets see, the taxpayers in the City of Rogers built it and now have the same rates as if it was a private built. Does something stink here?

Let me get this straight -- they pay for this park using bonds that the citizens are paying for via a sales tax, however they think it's "Fair" to charge three to four times the admission that every other city pool in NWA charges? At no time in the process of asking for the citizens to authorize the bonds to pay for this thing did they mention that it would be only accessible to the wealthier citizens of NWA. I mean, do you really think the average family can drop $40 every time they want to go to the city pool? Of course, concessions will be extra. CHA-CHING!!!!

This is NOT a city pool.. it has to be staffed and managed differently, with different costs associated!

$32 for a family of three is asking too much. This is not a waterpark at a big amusement park so the prices are to high. Not to mention that most people buy some kind of concessions while there so you can easily spend $50. And will they charge you if you are just a chapparone?

@ proud, so you're saying the city KNEW this new pool would cost 4 times as much for staff and management, however they intentionally withheld this information from the voters when they asked for the bond increase to build it? Don't you think this information would have influenced the bond election?

don't go... that's my suggestion. I seldom find that officials or politicians are above board in their handling of our money or time.

I'd like to know how they are going to require everyone to prove they are a resident of Rogers or not?

Kids can't prove it? Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Don't go? You're missing the point. Many people voted to spend tax money to build this park based on the assumption that admissions would be priced at a rate that would make the park routinely accessible to the citizens of Rogers. With these rates a significant number, maybe a majority, of Rogers citizens won't be using this park on a regular basis simply because it's out of their price range. Pretty poor example of local governance.

Most importantly, I believe that many Rogers residents will choose to spend their money in Bentonville or Springdale as opposed to paying the ridiculous admission prices here. That means a lot more than Rogers residents just not going, that is gas money potentially being spent elsewhere, money for eating out after swimming, etc. The rates just need to be brought down to a more realistic level, particularly for those under 48" since this age group is basically only using the pool.

Assumptions create these type of situations. If no one goes, they will change the rates. That's just how the free market works.
