Sebastian County officer dies after accident

A Sebastian County sheriff's corporal is dead following a one-vehicle accident, while on patrol, Saturday morning.
Deputies and EMS responded to the accident on Arkansas 96 in Lavaca around 4:20 a.m. involving Cpl. Terry Johnson. The Sebastian County sheriff's office said a 911 caller heard a loud crash and saw a white vehicle on its side in a ditch.
The report states Johnson was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, and died around 12:42 p.m.
The sheriff's office said Arkansas State Police is investigating the accident.
Johnson joined the sheriff's office in 1996.
