France’s Cannes Film Festival said it has finally snagged Steven Spielberg to serve as president of the award jury. Gilles Jacob, the festival’s president, recounted how he had been trying to get the award-winning director to head the jury for years — but the American was always working.

Getting it straight

Fort Smith, 1950: According to the ad on the back, Fort Smiths Homer Crain Nash Motors offered "quality cars from the Rambler of 1902 to the Nash Airflyte of 1949." (The Airflyte is pictured on this card). Mailed to a customer in Vian, Okla., the message reads: "Dear Sir, We are glad to advise receipt of your radio and to let you know we can install it and the visor any day convenient for you."
