Body found in river close to NLR park

The body of a man was pulled out of the Arkansas River near Burns Park on Saturday morning.

North Little Rock police found the body of an unidentified man in the backwater of the river about 10:30 a.m., according to Pulaski County sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden. The backwater was about a half-mile from the park’s boat ramp, he said.

Pulaski County sheriff ’s office investigators and members of the water patrol unit got the body out of the river and turned it over to the Pulaski County coroner’s office.

The body was taken to the State Crime Laboratory to be identified and to investigate the cause of death. No further information was available Saturday, Minden said.
