Agents Seize Child Porn

FAYETTEVILLE — Agents with the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office arrested an Evansville man Friday after they seized computer files from his home containing pornographic images of children.

Johnny D. Carte, 60, of 22481 Hale Mountain Road faces felony charges in connection with 30 counts distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

According to an arrest report, special agents searched Carte’s home Thursday as part of a child pornography investigation. Investigators searched a laptop computer and found a folder labeled “pictures,” according to the report.

Agents viewed and verified 30 pornographic images of children, though the folder contained 2,600 files, according to the report.

Investigators said the files contained nude images of boys, between the ages 6 and 10, posing in a “sexually explicit manner.”

Carte said the computer contained 1,500 images of child pornography. He said there were other computers in his home that also contained pornographic images of children, but he was unsure how many, according to the report.

According to investigators, Carte said he had a sexual attraction to young boys and a long history of sexually abusing children. He claimed that history dates back to 1985 in Lincoln. Carte recalled eight incidents in which he raped and/or took nude photographs of children, the report said.

Carte was in the Washington County Detention Center on $25,000 bond Saturday.
