Missouri Man Gets Eight Years

BENTONVILLE — An Excelsior Springs, Mo., man was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy.

Robert Kyle Reeves, 29, pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual assault in the second degree, a class B felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years.

The plea came under an agreement Reeves’ attorney John Baureis reached with Bonnie Bridges, deputy prosecutor.

Reeves was arrested Jan. 4, 2012.

The boy was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center where he gave details of the abuse, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Reeves’ guilty plea. Reeves was sentenced to eight years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must abide by a suspended sentence agreement for 12 years after his release.

Reeves will be required to register as a sex offender, must complete the prison’s sex offender treatment program and pay $1,670 in court costs. He received 539 days credit for the time he spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.
