Springdale Man Arrested In Rogers

BENTONVILLE — A Springdale man was arrested Tuesday in connection with kidnapping, aggravated assault and carrying a weapon charges after apparently confronting another man with a gun while attempting to revoke his bond.

Paul Taylor Dodd, 44, was being held Thursday in the Benton County Jail on $15,000 bond.

Rogers police received a call at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday from the 8th Street Motel concerning a man with a gun. The caller claimed a bondsman had a man on the ground with a gun pointed at the back of his head, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Rogers police arrived at the scene where dozens of people were outside. A man later identified as Joshua Wilson told police he and an acquaintance were trying to revoke the bond on a man, according to the affidavit. Officers then observed a man later identified as Dodd place one gun on the ground. He was removing a holster from his belt that contained a second pistol, according to the affidavit.

Dodd told police he was trying to revoke the bond of a man he identified as Jeremy Watkins. Dodd also told police he was not a bondsman and didn't have a concealed weapons permit.

Watkins told police Dodd had co-signed a bond to have him released from jail and he owes Dodd $300 for the bond. Dodd expected repayment earlier than the agreed upon deadline.

Watkins said he went outside to get a cigarette from his vehicle when he saw Dodd walking toward him with a handgun pointed at his head. Dodd ordered Watkins to the ground and then stood over him and pressed the gun barrel to the back of his head.

Watkins claims Dodd struck him on the back of the head with the gun. Watkins claims Dodd then held a gun to his head and attempted to force him into Dodd’s truck.

Police said they also interviewed witnesses who described Dodd pointing the gun at Watkins and striking him with the weapon.
