James McCann, the former Arkansas catcher who makes his off-season home in Fayetteville, has been named an Eastern League All-Star.

McCann, a second-round draft pick by the Detroit Tigers in 2011, is playing for the Class AA Erie (Pa.) Seawolves. He’s eighth in the Eastern League with a .305 batting average and has 2 home runs, 15 doubles and 32 runs batted in 67 games.

McCann will play for the Western Division in the Eastern League All-Star Game, which be held July 10 in New Britain, Conn.

It’s the second minor league All-Star Game for McCann. Last season he played in the Florida State League All-Star Game as a member of the Advanced Class A Lakeland (Fla.) Flying Tigers.
