Pickles … ice cream, but not as best buds

Farnsworth Foods, a gourmet food company based in Hot Springs, makes pickle products called Le Pikl and Le Pikl Relish, and English Cream Sauce. I’ve tried them and they’re really good. Company owners Terry and Ellis Cokes have partnered with Our Promise Cancer Resources to raise money for local cancer patients. Terry Cokes, a breast cancer survivor, wants to pay forward and give a big thanks to those who helped her along the way. Thus the “Buy a Pickle for those in a Pickle” campaign. Their goal is to sell 500 jars, at $9 a jar, to raise $1,500 ($3 per jar) for Our Promise. As summer heats up, frozen treat-makers are giving us plenty of options for cooling down in a sweet way. Some new items include new flavors of Breyers Blasts dairy desserts:

Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mints mint-flavored with a fudge swirl and pieces of Thin Mint cookies.

Girl Scout Cookies Samoas, caramel-flavored with pieces of Samoas cookies, coconut and a fudge swirl.

M&M’s has mini milk chocolate candies mixed in.

Birthday Blast featuring cake pieces and rainbow sprinkles.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel, exclusive to Wal-Mart stores, has chocolate covered pretzel pieces and a fudge swirl.

Creamsicle, also exclusive to Wal-Mart, combines frozen dairy dessert and orange sherbet.

Strawberry Waffle Cone, made with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a strawberry swirl is also only sold at Wal-Mart.

Good Humor has a new Birthday Cake Bar made with vanilla cake-flavored ice cream surrounded by light vanilla ice cream and coated with colorful candy sprinkles. I tried these and they were almost too sweet.

And last but not least, Popsicle has three new things:

Yosicle Swirlz Chocolate & Vanilla, thin pops with a swirl of vanilla and chocolate.

Yosicle Swirlz Strawberry-Red Raspberry and Strawberry-Banana flavors. They’re sold in a combo pack with both flavors in each box.

Hello Kitty Fun Bunch Ice pops in star, triangle and moon shapes in cherry, watermelon, berry and grape.

Look for most of these in a variety of major stores, except for those noted as exclusive to Wal-Mart.
