West Texas man dies in oilfield-related accident

BIG SPRING, Texas — West Texas authorities say another man has died in the second fatal oilfield-related accident in a week.

The Howard County Sheriff's Office says Earthco employees were working Thursday on a large heater tank used to prepare oil for transport when it rolled onto a man. The 59-year-old man was pinned against another piece of equipment.

Juan Manual Estrada-Duarte of Big Spring was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Earthco is based in Big Spring.

Another Big Spring man died Wednesday in an oil rig collapse. The rig was owned by Heartland Drilling of Abilene.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is expected to investigate the workers' deaths.
