SPORTS CALENDAR

BASKETBALL

A Summer Basketball League is being offered by the Rogers Activity Center. The league will be open to students in grades five to eight for the 2013-14 academic school year. Cost for registration is $60. Each participant must have a current RAC membership ($20). Separate boys and girls teams will be formed. Each team will practice once or twice per week and play two games per week with a maximum of eight games in the season. Program will start July 1 and run through Aug. 2. FBC Centerton Upward Basketball Camp will be held July 29-Aug. 2 in the church gymnasium. Camp sessions will be from 6 to 9 p.m. for first- through sixth-grade boys/girls. Campers will receive a ball that can be taken home on the last day of camp. Early registration cost per child is $40. After July 19, cost increases to $50 per camper. GOLF

The eighth annual Bentonville Fraternal Order of Police benefit golf will be held today at the Bella Vista Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble with registration at 7 a.m. and shotgun start at 8 a.m. Registration is $300 per team, and mulligans can be purchased in advance for $5 each (limit 2 per person). Tournament proceeds benefit the Bentonville FOP “Shop With A Cop” fund, the sponsorship of children’s team athletics, the Bentonville High School scholarship fund and the National Police Officers’ Memorial Fund in Washington. The Friends of the Highlands annual Fourth of July Golf Tournament will be held July 4. The event is a two-person scramble with each member contributing at least five drives. The tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Participants should check in by 12:30 p.m. Following the tournament, dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. at Mulligans at the Highlands. The tournament is limited to the first 72 couples. The cost is $60 per couple, which includes dinner, tax and tip. The price does not include green fees and carts. FIRST TEE OF NORTHWEST

ARKANSAS

The First Tee will offer 16 weeks of Summer Golf Camp in 2013. Camps will run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays will be reserved for rain-outs. Registration for First Tee members is $75, and for nonmembers $90. Camps at the Tyson Foods First Tee Learning Center in Lowell will be offered the weeks of June 24 and July 8, 15, 22 and 29. Bella Vista camps at the Brittany Golf course will be the weeks of July 15 and 22. Fayetteville camps at Razorback Golf Course will be offered the weeks of June 24 and July 8 and 29. The First Tee is now taking registrations for its July golf and life skills classes. Annual registration is $30, making participants eligible to register in seven sessions of classes (April-October) and receive discounts at the Tyson Foods First Tee Learning Center in Lowell and at participating area golf courses. Registration for the July session is $25 and includes an 1½ hour class each week for four weeks. Classes will be offered in Bella Vista, Fayetteville and Lowell for the July session. The First Tee has scheduled its Powerade Summer Golf Tour, in cooperation with Lindsey Golf Management. The Powerade Tour is open to participants age 12 and older. The Tour will play the Links at Springdale on July 19, the Links at Bentonville on July 12, and the Greens at Blossom Way June 28 and July 26. FENCING

Northwest Arkansas Fencing Center registration is open for the June Introductory Fencing Classes. June classes will run Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 3. FOOTBALL

The 60th Annual Springdale Kiwanis Kids’ Day Football program will hold a free registration for players and cheerleaders from 9 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Springdale Youth Center. LACROSSE

The Rogers Activity Center and the NWA LAX Club will hold a four-week Lacrosse Academy for boys and girls in grades three to 12. The sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday each week from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The academy will be held at Forester Park, and the fee is $60 per session. A $20 RAC membership is required. Equipment needed includes a lacrosse stick, lacrosse helmert, lacrosse goggles and a mouthpiece. Some equipment will be available. Register at the RAC.
