Police: Woman Attacked At Home

A Missouri man faces felony charges after police said he broke into a woman’s home and choked her.

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Donald G. Stringfield, 24, of 30049 Binder Road in Green Ridge in connection with felony aggravated assault, aggravated residential burglary, second-degree battery and first-degree criminal mischief.

Deputies, assisted by Prairie Grove police, went to 405 S. West Ave. Apt. D1 in Lincoln for a report of a home invasion around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report.

Wanda Bentley, 63, told investigators she was getting in the shower when she heard someone yell for help, according to the report.

Deputies said Stringfield forced his way into Bentley’s locked apartment and told her to call 911.

Bentley went to her room to get dressed when Stringfield grabbed her and began to choke her, according to the report.

Three neighbors heard Bentley yell for help, went to check on her and saw Stringfield holding Bentley in a “choke hold,” according to the report.

Bentley said she thought Stringfield was going to choke her “to death,” deputies said. Stringfield was arrested outside the apartment.

Detectives said Stringfield told them he took methamphetamine prior to the assault.

Stringfield was in the Washington County Detention Center without bond Thursday.
