Free Kenny Loggins concert planned

Two-time Grammy Award winner Kenny Loggins will perform during a free concert at Orchards Park in Bentonville on Saturday. The concert is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Wal-Mart Northwest Arkansas Championship.

Loggins’ career has spanned more than four decades starting with his work as part of the duo Loggins and Messina. He’s best known for hits like “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” “I’m Alright,” “Footloose,” “Danger Zone” and “Nobody’s Fool.”

Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the show. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted.

The second True Grit Ride 100, benefiting the Community Services Clearinghouse Guild, is set for 7 a.m. Saturday at Ben Geren Park in Fort Smith.

The event features noncompetitive cycling tours for riders of all abilities including a 10-mile family fun ride and 35-, 50-, 75- and 100-mile routes for more experienced cyclists. Snacks and drinks will be available about every 10 miles, and a cookout is planned at the finish line.

Talk to focus on Fort Smith bottlers

The Clayton House in Fort Smith will host the next session of its Clayton Conversations series at 2 p.m. Sunday. The subject of the talk will be “A Sweet 100-Plus Years: A History of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Fort Smith.”

The company has been in Fort Smith since 1895. Fred Kirkpatrick, a longtime employee, curator and archivist for the company museum, will share the company’s history, some artifacts and a slide show.

Current Coca-Cola Bottling Co. operations manager Larry Meador will join Kirkpatrick for the event.

Coke floats will be served in the gazebo at The Clayton House starting at 1 p.m. Admission is $5; reservations are recommended.
