A Lamar man, Michael Savell, 25, died and a Helena-West Helena man was injured Tuesday after an accident in Mississippi County, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality accident report released Thursday.
About 9:35 p.m., Bruce Simpson Jr., 21, drove west in the 4800 block of Arkansas 120 when the 2004 Ford truck veered off the road and into a ditch full of water, state police said. The truck turned over and was submerged in the water, state police said.
Savell, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Dewayne Seaton, the report states. Simpson was taken to the South Mississippi County Medical Center in Osceola, state police said.
