Dredging Work In Case Continues

BENTONVILLE — The search for evidence continued Thursday in connection with the 2006 disappearance of April Dawn Andrews.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office drained and dredged a pond on Arkansas 94 near Little Flock, but detectives haven't found a body or any other evidence, said Keshia Guyll, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Andrews, 15, left her home at Kings Lane Apartments Nov. 18, 2006. She planned to walk to the nearby Pea Ridge Church of the Nazarene, according to reports.

Sheriff’s detectives received a letter in late April claiming the girl’s body and other evidence was in the pond.

It took two days to drain the pond. Dredging started Wednesday and continued Thursday.

Guyll said work at the pond would continue and couldn’t say when it will stop.

“We just want to be confident that we don’t miss anything,” Guyll said.

Detectives plan to again interview witnesses in the investigation. Detectives need the person who wrote the letter to come forward because they may have more information, Guyll said.

Anyone with information concerning the girl’s disappearance is asked to call 479-271-1009.
