ROGERS — Altrusa International of Rogers will receive the proceeds of a chicken barbecue to be held Saturday near the intersection of Second and Locust streets.
Altrusa is one of the oldest civic clubs in the city, having been established in 1954. Since then they have facilitated thousands of dollars in dental care for underprivileged kids in the Rogers School District. The organization’s other major project involves literacy. Again this year, they will sponsor Pages & Pictures, a literacy fair for children attending the Rogers Activity Center’s Summer Day Camp. Children will receive books to keep, and will participate in craft and reading activities.
Whitey’s Chicken Cookin’ Crew will barbecue the chicken which will then be sold near the pit. Sales should start around 9:30 a.m.
