The state Board of Education voted Monday to censure nine educators in three school districts for misusing the state Minimum Performance Test this year, and adopted steps to protect the test in the future. The test is administered statewide each spring to most third-, sixth- and eighth-graders. The eight-graders must pass it to be promoted to the ninth grade. The affected employees are in the Pulaski County Special, Altheimer-Sherrill (Jefferson County) and El Dorado school districts. They were accused of leaking copies of either the 1988 or 1987 versions of the tests to students and teachers in the districts, causing some to have to re-take parts of the exams.

Customers talked up Starbucks’ coffee and atmosphere, and a steady flow of people moved through the store Friday morning. The new location is at the busy corner of Cantrell Road and Mississippi Street in a former TCBY store.
