HOT SPOTS

BEAVER LAKE Bream fishing is good on worms and crickets. Crappie are in the post spawn phase and are in 10-15 feet of water. They can be caught using minnows and jigs. Most crappie have been caught trolling around steep banks and around bluffs. Bass fishing is good using top water baits in the morning and soft plastics in the afternoon. Catfishing is good on goldfish and small bream.

GREERS FERRY LAKE The lake level is a little high but falling with the surface temperature reaching the 80s. Bream fishing is excellent on crickets and night crawlers fished 6 inches to15 feet deep. The walleye bite is getting better. Try dragging crawlers on rocky banks in 15-27 feet of water. Crappie fishing is good using jigs and minnows in 15-25 feet of water around timber and brush piles.

The bass bite has picked up around brush piles. Catfishing is great all over the lake.

LAKE MAUMELLE Bream fishing is excellent on worms and crickets at main lake points. Crappie fishing is fair in 10-20 feet of water using minnows, white/chartreuse, red/chartreuse and electric chicken jigs. Bass fishing is excellent using crankbaits, Spooks and Big Bite Fighting Frogs. Catfishing is excellent using slicks, shad, night crawlers, skip jacks and hearts.

LAKE NORFORK Top water bass action has been great at sunrise and sunset with a lot of fish being caught on weighted Flukes. Mid-day fishing is still good but anglers have to go deeper to catch them. Catfish have moved into shallow water. Crappie are scattered and in deep water.

LAKE OUACHITA Black bass fishing is good using jig head worms, brush hogs and top-water Super Spook Jr’s. Walleye fishing is excellent using spoons and Shad Raps fished over main lake points and humps. Striper fishing is good with most being caught on top-water C-10 Redfins and live bait. Bream fishing is excellent using crickets or worms in 8-15 feet of water. Crappie fishing is fair with most being caught near and over brush using minnows or crappie grubs.

Catfishing is excellent using cut bait and live bait on jug lines and trot lines set 10-20 feet deep.
