Future Stars Soccer League Forming

FAYETTEVILLE — A new soccer league is forming this summer for youth across Northwest Arkansas.

The Future Stars soccer league is for children ages 5 to 15 and registration is currently under way.

The Future Stars are as competitive as any traveling program, but the focus of the coaches is local children. They focus on the children first; their safety, helping to develop their ability, enjoyment and understanding of the game, organizers said.

“We want them to get the sweat off their thumbs from playing their gameboys and start sweating on the field from playing a real game,” said Jack Torres, League Assistant Director.

They also strive to create a safe and fun environment for the families while attending league games.

“We want every player to develop confidence while playing the sport,” said League Director Elton Torres. “We focus on the growth of the players on and off the field.”

The league meets at Rolling Hills Baptist Church Soccer Field and partners with the church to support the coaches and teams. Some of the kids who participate in Future Stars teams come from at-risk home environments.

Future Stars provides a positive outlet on the field that may not be available to these kids anywhere else. The summer is an especially vulnerable time for many children because for many children living in families at or below the poverty line, summer camps are simply not an option, said Future Stars organizers.

While play in the League is paid through registration, scholarships are available, supported by the church.
