Grand Prix feet hit pavement in Batesville on Saturday

The Arkansas Grand Prix series of footraces travels to Batesville on Saturday for the 35th annual White River 4-Mile Classic.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on Main Street between Ninth and 10th streets; walkers and slow runners are allowed to start 15 minutes early.

In addition to standard age division and overall race awards, White River Road Runners offers a $350 prize for breaking the course record. For men that means running faster than 19:45:07, Daniel Kirwa’s time in 2011; for women it means outdoing Leah Thorvilson’s 22:50:16 finish in 2009.

Registration ($15, $10 for students) is open at wrroadrunners.org.
