2 killed in crashes on state highways

Fatal accidents on Arkansas roads killed two Friday.

A Tennessee man was killed in Poinsett County on Friday evening when he rolled his car on a U.S. Route 63 exit ramp, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Charles Flynn, 42, of Memphis was driving south and taking Exit 7 in Tyronza when he lost control of his vehicle just before 8 p.m., according to an accident report. The vehicle overturned multiple times, the report said. Road conditions were dry and clear at thetime of the accident.

Another accident killed a Texarkana, Texas, man on Friday morning. Loyd Russell Mendenall, 60, was driving north on U.S. Route 71 near the 13-mile marker at 8:20 a.m. when his 2002 GMC Yukon went off the east side of the highway and into the ditch, according to a state police accident report. His sport utility vehicle hit a culvert and overturned. It was raining and the road was wet, the report said.

Mendenall was taken to Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown, where he later died.
