Man Robbed Woman at Gunpoint

— A Farmington man faces felony charges after police said he robbed a woman at gunpoint earlier this month.

Investigators arrested Jimmy Dwayne Morell, 29, of 381 S. Hunter St. in connection with felony aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, second-degree battery, kidnapping, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Diana Dubois was walking on Main Street at 2 a.m. when she received a ride from Morell, according to an arrest report. Dubois, who was 10 weeks pregnant, asked Morell to take her to the Green Oak Center in Farmington, the report said.

While stopped at traffic light near South Hunter Street, police said, Morell robbed Dubois at gunpoint. Police said Dubois struggled with Morell and escaped from the pickup while it was moving. Morell’s gun fired as Dubois exited, police said. Morell then ran over Dubois’ leg as he drove away, the report said.

Investigators recovered a document from a local newspaper company at the scene and traced Morell to Northwest Arkansas Newspapers, where he had been an independent contractor, according to the company.

Detectives searched Morell’s home on Friday and seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Morell was in the Washington County Detention Center without bond Friday.
