Kansas Man Arrested In Connection With Rape

Saturday, July 27, 2013

— Arkansas will seek to extradite a Kansas man on warrants in connection with rape, sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child.

Floyd Jetson “Trey” Dorsey III, 61, was arrested July 18 in Wells, Kan., on warrants issued July 16 and requested by the Rogers Police Department in connection with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual indecency with a child. Dorsey had moved to Kansas, according to a news release from the Rogers Police Department.

Two women and a girl interviewed by police earlier this month said Dorsey inappropriately touched them between five and 13 years ago. Two of the females described incidents where Dorsey attempted sexual contact when they were in fifth grade, another said she was between 8 and 12 years old, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The Arkansas statute of limitation allows for prosecution of rape and sexual assault if the victim was a minor when the incident occurred and hasn't turned 28 before prosecution begins.

Dorsey, in a phone call with one of the females recorded by police, said he tried to volunteer and to make himself a better person and he didn't want to go to jail, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Police are still investigating the matter, said Keith Foster, public information officer.

Dorsey may have had contact with other children because of his volunteer work, according to the release.

Dorsey was being held Friday in the Ottawa County Jail in Minneapolis, Kan., awaiting return to Benton County.
