Bond Set For Missouri Man

Bond was set at $25,000 Thursday for a Parkville, Mo., man accused of raping a 6-year-old boy.

Tim Ivan Sawyers II, 36, was arrested Tuesday in connection with four counts of rape, a Class Y felony. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Sawyers.

An investigation began with the Platte County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri when a social worker provided a sexual abuse report to a deputy, according to court documents. The case later was given to Bentonville police because Sawyers lived in Bentonville at the time referenced in the report, according to court documents.

The boy reported Sawyers molested him repeatedly while living in Bentonville, according to court documents.

Sawyers originally denied the allegations when first questioned by Missouri authorities, according to court documents.

Sawyers returned to Bentonville on Tuesday to be interviewed by police. He initially denied the allegations, but later admitted to having sexual contact with the boy, according to the affidavit.

Rape normally carries a sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life in prison if convicted. A conviction of raping a child age 13 or younger carries a minimum sentence of 25 years.
