Officials from Arkansas, Korea meet at Capitol

Arkansas officials and Korean dignitaries gathered at the Capitol with veterans to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.

The Korean consul, based in Houston, was on hand for the Wednesday ceremony in the rotunda and thanked former service members for their sacrifice.

Dozens of veterans attended and accepted recognition they didn't receive when they returned home in 1953.

Theo Epperson Jr. of Pine Bluff was in the Army in Korea when the fighting ended. He said there were no parties or parades when he got home. Gov. Mike Beebe told the crowd that oversight should never be repeated.
