Rotary sets upcoming programs

The Springdale Rotary Club has scheduled the following programs for the month of August.

The club meets at 11:45 a.m. on Mondays at the Springdale Holiday Inn ballroom, and meetings are open to the public.

On Aug. 5, Denise Thomas, director of external relations of the World Trade Center in Rogers, will speak regarding the work that the WTC is doing with Arkansas companies who wish to export their products.

On Aug. 12, Yvonne Vizzier Thaxton, PhD, professor and director at the University of Arkansas Center for Food Animal Wellbeing, part of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural Food and Life Sciences, will address how animals we raise for food are themselves fed and nurtured, and the role of additives in animal feed, such as antibiotics and hormones, that have recently received extensive and undeserved, media attention.

On Aug. 19, some of the newest members will take a few minutes each at the podium and introduce themselves.

On Aug. 26, Sam Dean, the executive director of Amazeum, the new children’s museum scheduled to open in Bentonville in 2015, will speak regarding the recently released plans for the museum.

There is a fee for the lunch, which is open to the public. Reservations are not required.
