Rock’s Everclear, pals take Summerland to Fayetteville

Everclear, Live, Filter and Sponge are co-headlining the Summerland Tour 2013 Alternative Guitars, which will make a Northwest Arkansas stop at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Arkansas Music Pavilion, Washington County Fairgrounds, 2536 N. Folk art in wood

“Works in Wood: A Folk Art Sampler,” an exhibition of folk art objects made from wood, ranging from elaborately carved and painted cigar store Indian figures to toy wagons and canes, opens Saturday at the Rogers Historical Museum, 322 S. Second St., Rogers. The exhibition will be on display, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.Monday-Saturday, through Sept. 28. A Folk Art Family Day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 21, will feature demonstrations and hands-on workshops in weaving, seed art and other folk crafts. Admission is free. Bali Ha’i calling …

A young Navy nurse from Little Rock learns to overcome her prejudices when she falls in love with a French planter on a South Seas island during World War II in South Pacific (music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan, based on Tales From the South Pacific by James Michener), opening Tuesday at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock.

Grace Field makes her Murry’s debut as Ensign Nellie Forbush, with director Don Bolinger as Emile de Becque, Christopher Straw as Luther Billis, Nisheedah Golden as Bloody Mary and James O’Connell as Lt. Joe Cable.

Dinner starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, with show times at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday (except matinees only, Wednesday and July 31 and Aug. 7), 12:45 and 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Bluegrass Monday

Mezzo-soprano SashaCooke will open the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s 2013-14 Artspree season with a recital at 3 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, UALR, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock.
