The front of the building and its massive columns have been replastered and repairs made in all the halls and rooms, except those formerly occupied by the secretary of state. These rooms have been assigned for use by the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the work of putting them in shape will be commenced this week. Other repairs, including those of the walks about the grounds and the fence, also are to be made.

A proposal to ban weapons in North Little Rock parks should clarify that concealed handgun permit holders driving through a city park are exempt, City Attorney Paul Suskie said. Today the North Little Rock Parks Commission will consider the concealed handgun ban as proposed last week by the City Council. Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. at the North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow St. The proposal requests the Parks Commission to post signs prohibiting concealed handguns in all city parks, a 5-3 City Council decision that prompted many complaints to city officials.
