ARKANSANS ACROSS THE MINORS

News and notes

Pitcher Brandon Farley (Arkansas State/Jonesboro) was suspended by the Augusta GreenJackets (A Giants) on July 12. Farley last pitched for the GreenJackets on July 5 against Charleston, S.C. (A Yankees), allowing just 2 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout in 2 innings. He has a 4-4 record with 1 save and a 3.65 ERA in 28 appearances this season. In 562/3 innings, he has allowed 27 runs (23 earned) on 61 hits with 23 walks and 39 strikeouts and opposing hitters are batting .282 against him.

Pitcher Andy Ferguson (Arkansas State/Benton) was promoted from Class AA Northwest Arkansas to Class AAA Omaha by the Kansas City Royals organization on Wednesday. Feguson had a 2-3 record with a 4.94 ERA in 22 appearances, including 8 starts, for the Naturals.

Pitcher Colby Suggs (Arkansas Razorbacks) was promoted from Class A Batavia to the Class A-advanced Jupiter Hammerheads by the Miami Marlins organization on Tuesday. Suggs, who was promoted to Batavia on June 26, had a 1-0 record with 3 saves and a 1.13 ERA in 7 appearances for the Muckdogs.

Pitcher Justin Thomas (Southern Arkansas) has had to play musical chairs, of sorts, in the Washington Nationals organization. He was promoted from Class A Auburn (N.Y.) to Class A-advanced Potomac on July 12, where he appeared in only one game, then was reassigned to Class A Hagerstown on Wednesday. The promotion to Potomac happened for two reasons, according to Nationals director of media relations Bryan Holland. He said Thomas took a roster spot available with RHP A.J. Cole pitching in the All-Star Futures Game and said the Nationals “had been devoid of a lefty match up arm out of the bullpen.”

Outfielder D’Marcus Ingram (Little Rock) was released by the independent Traverse City Beach Bums on July 11. Ingram batted just .144 in 28 games for the Beach Bums. He had 13 hits, including 4 doubles and 1 home run, but also had 14 strikeouts and 20 walks.

First baseman Murray Watts (Arkansas State) was released by the independent El Paso Diablos on July 10. He batted .242 in 29 games, scoring 16 runs on 24 hits, with 17 RBI and 5 stolen bases.

Pitcher Blaine Sims (Arkansas Tech) has not pitched since July 10 for the Lynchburg Hillcats (A Braves) and has been taken out of the starting rotation, according to Hillcats’ director of broadcasting Erik Wilson.
