Not even a good photo

Hmmm. I must have missed something in art and/or history.

I don’t see any correlation between the pictures of Iwo Jima, Migrant Mother, portraits of Abraham Lincoln, and the picture of Barack Obama in Africa. The first three are classic works, which bring feeling to the viewer.

The last one, which I took the time to look up online, doesn’t even rate good photographic merit, in my humble opinion. That Kent Hendrix would even suggest that the photograph be rated anywhere along in history with the other three is disgusting at best.

And that’s just the artistic merit. I will say nothing of the subject matter involved here.

A far better president

I would like to see Hillary Rodham Clinton run for president in 2016.

Let’s face it, Bill Clinton did a great job as president, far better than George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

When Hurricane Katrina hit, George W. just flew over the Louisiana Superdome and headed back to Washington. I believe Bill would have landed and would lend a helping hand. Hillary would do the same. She is a strong woman. I don’t want Joe Biden.

I wish we had a street here in El Dorado named after Bill Clinton. Let’s hold our heads high and hope for Hillary in 2016.

All has been forgotten

What happened to the Fast and Furious investigation of the Justice Department providing arms to Mexican drug cartels?

What happened to the investigation of the Benghazi debacle, the IRS scandal, and all the other activities of this scandal-ridden Obama administration?

It looks like all that’s necessary to get away with anything by this regime is to cover up and stonewall any inquiries into the activities of these radical Democrats, maybe issue an executive order or two to prevent the release of any documents under subpoena, then all is forgotten and forgiven.

Too bad Richard Nixon didn’t employ these tactics to save his administration, but of course Nixon didn’t have the news media in the tank for him and people in his own party willing to sacrifice their honor and sworn duty to protect him.

It appears the Democrats, on the other hand, are willing to go to any extreme to protect Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the other people in this administration.

Needs of a community

I was very excited to read that the Old Post Office was again to be resurrected with something for all of Fayetteville.

Boy, was that a resurrection reburied!

I cannot believe that the new owners want to put shops in that have little to do with the downtown community, which is also more the college community than the rural community. The customer base, I fear, will have little need of country and western apparel. Handbags, maybe.

So to Acumen Brands: Please, do some market research first.

True law of the land

Shame, shame, shame on you, E.M. Holman!

What is it that you, and the rest of Arkansas, do not seem to understand about the Constitution of the United States?

Thank goodness the justices of the Supreme Court are there to keep things right. Hopefully someday all states willbe required to accept same-sex marriage so everyone has equal rights.

The Constitution is the law of this land-not the Bible.

Stop discriminating

I feel that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual couples should have the same rights as married heterosexual couples. But I also feel that committed heterosexual couples without marriage vows should also be enjoying the same privileges.

Every committed couple should be able to enjoy the same rights. They are entitled to spousal benefits, too.

Isn’t it “one nation under God with liberty and justice for all?” We need to stop discriminating against each other now.

Stuff and superstition

Hmmm … Christian superstition. Never heard it put that way before, Jim Blok.

Yes, Jesus was the human sacrifice so we wouldn’t have to keep sacrificing animals for our sins.

Yes, Christianity was the result of what Jesus did for us. (Thank you, Jesus!)

But I believe a lot of bad stuff has been done in the name of “religion,” not Christianity.

I think if it’s bad, it’s because of “humanism.” People have a choice and they choose wrong. While Jesus was on the earth, he healed people, he set them free from addictions and bondages, he changed lives and taught love-love first for God, then loving others as we love ourselves. If the world worked on those two principles alone, it would be a much better world to live in.

Of course, for the ones who refuse to believe, that’s your choice. So sorry we believers are so irritating to you.

Look at it this way: If I’m wrong, I have nothing to lose when my life is over. If you’re wrong, you lose everything.

Such a simple choice

A recent Saturday’s Voices page had a couple of eloquent writers that I think should be awarded a doctorate in heathenism. They seem to speak for the majority of the human race who have no concept, or a skewed one, of the true God.

Only a small percentage of us believe, by faith, that the Bible is the best instruction before leaving earth and that God the father is the architect, Christ the creator/savior, and the holy spirit the maintenance man.

The Bible lets you know God, know yourself and what should be going on between God and yourself.

We have all been cheated by individuals or groups in this life, but to cheat yourself out of an eternity or the good God, good friends, good weather, good smells, etc., for an eternity for a leader who hates your guts, a tortured physical existence and nothing but mean people or complete solitude is nuts.

I’m taking the golden escalator up and not the black trapdoor down. Such a simple choice.
