Heifer to host day to honor churches

LITTLE ROCK - Heifer International will have Congregation Appreciation Day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 27 at the charity’s main campus in downtown Little Rock. Congregations can participate in a day of activities and learn more about Heifer’s commitment to end hunger and poverty.

Perry Jones, with Heifer’s Seeds of Change program, will speak at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. about the organization’s work in poverty-stricken areas of the Arkansas Delta. The goal of the Seeds of Change program, active in Arkansas and southern Appalachia, is to create profitable local food systems.

The day will also include tours of Heifer Village learning center, games and activities for all ages. Youth groups, adult groups and families are invited to attend. Information is available by calling (501) 907-2697 or online at heifer. org.

Church to record album on Aug. 10

FAYETTEVILLE - St. James Missionary Baptist Church will have a live album recording session at 6 p.m. Aug. 10. The Sunday Morning Experience will feature the St. James Mass Choir. The public is welcome.

The church will celebrate its 148th anniversary during worship services at 10 a.m. Aug. 11. The Rev. Ray Owens, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Tulsa, will be the guest preacher.
