A Siloam Springs man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he admitted he sexually assaulted two girls.

Ismael Cardenas Morales pleaded guilty Monday to sexual assault in the first degree, a Class A felony; and sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony. The plea came under an agreement Sergio Barron, Morales’ attorney, reached with Stuart Cearley, chief deputy prosecutor.

Morales was arrested Aug. 1, 2011. He was accused of sexually abusing two girls.

The mother of a 10-year-old girl reported Morales sexually abused her daughter about about seven years ago. Morales also was accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Morales’ guilty plea.

Morales was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the sexual assaults. He also received a 10-year suspended sentence for the second degree sexual assault.
