UPDATE: Missouri man arrested in Rapalee shooting

A Missouri man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the attempted murder of Annette Rapalee, the woman left for dead in a creek bed May 11.

Orville Mitchell Goodwin, 61, of 613 Quarry Lane in Pineville, Mo., was arrested on a warrant out of Benton County Circuit Court and charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery, both Class Y felonies, according to a press release from police. He was arrested without incident near the intersection of Bella Vista Way and Bear Hollow Road, the release said.

Rapalee, 54, of Jane, Mo., was found one-half mile from her home by two men on horseback. She had been badly beaten and shot in the face. Rapalee was taken to St. John's Regional Hospital in Springfield, Mo. She has since been released and is currently in a rehab facility, police said.

Goodwin is being held in the Benton County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
