Terry Fulfer, 26, of 1523 Hefton Court, was arrested in connection with the incident after Siloam Springs police used a stun gun to subdue him. Charges are pending, said Holland Hayden, city communication director, but the Benton County Jail website shows Fulfer is being held without bond on a count of arson.

At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Siloam Springs Police Department responded to 1523 Hefton Court after receiving a report of a suicidal man, armed with a sword, a bow and arrows, who had threatened family members and threatened suicide by police officer. Police were told the suspect was building fortifications in the backyard.

When officers arrived at the home, the man fired an arrow at an officer, police said. As they tried to reach the man, he reportedly started a fire at the back of the home.

Police breached the privacy fence of the yard after the man fired a second arrow. The man was armed with a sword and threatening officers, police said. Police used a stun gun on the suspect and arrested him.

Family members were able to escape the home without injury as were several animals, including a dog trapped in the bathroom, which was rescued by firefighters and animal control.

After Fulfer was arrested, he was treated at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital before being transported to the Benton County Jail.

Siloam Springs firefighters extinguished the blaze that destroyed the home. No other homes were damaged.
