Firefighters Battle Multiple Blazes

Rogers firefighters responded to three structure fires Saturday night and Sunday morning.

“We had a pretty busy night,” Fire Chief Tom Jenkins said. “We had one fire inside the corporate city limits and assisted with two in Benton County.”

Jenkins said firefighters were called to a fire outside of Long John Silver’s, 1036 W. Walnut St., at 11 p.m. Saturday.

The blaze was confined to the outside of the building and caused minor damage.

Jenkins identified the cause of the fire as “improperly discarded smoking materials next to the building.”

At 11:40 p.m., firefighters assisted the Highway 94 East Fire Department with a blaze at 9822 Stoney Hollow Road.

Jenkins said the fire was confined to the first floor of a 3,000-square-foot home. No one was injured, he said, and firefighters rescued a cat from the home.

Firefighters also assisted with a garage fire at 5104 N. Laramie Trail at 3:26 a.m.

Jenkins said the detached building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. No one was injured.

Jenkins said he didn’t know the cause of the two fires that happened outside the city limits.

The Benton County Fire Marshal’s Office was closed Sunday.
