Broyles Award featured in 'NCAA Football 14' video game

A prominent national award that makes its home in Little Rock is gaining a bit more notoriety thanks to the world of gaming.

The Broyles Award, given annually to the top assistant coach in college football, is featured in the new Electronic Arts Sports video game NCAA Football 14, according to a news release on the Broyles Award website.

The award, named for former Arkansas head coach and athletic director Frank Broyles, has become the premier award for assistant coaches in college football. Each year, the top assistant coaches gather at a ceremony in Little Rock to find out who will win the award.

Winners of the award have come from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and LSU in recent years.

With the game featuring multiple interactive modes, players can create a coach and act as the offensive or defensive coordinator for a college football team of their choice. That fictional coach can win a fictional version of the award in the game.

“We are very excited to include the Broyles Award in NCAA Football 14," Ben Haumiller, EA Sports Producer for NCAA Football 14, said in the release. "With the ability to play as either an offensive or defensive coordinator in the game, it’s great to be able to pay off that experience with the ability to win the Broyles Award.”

EA Sports' NCAA Football franchise is widely viewed as the top college football video game in the world. The franchise released the 2014 version of the game Tuesday.
