Fireworks In Town Done For This Year

FAYETTEVILLE — Officers received 120 complaints of fireworks Monday through Thursday, according to Police Sgt. Craig Stout.

Police issued about 20 warnings, but didn’t make any arrests.

Stout said residents could buy fireworks through Friday, but they couldn’t set them off within the city.

“As of 11 p.m. Thursday, they were prohibited,” he said.

Fireworks outside cities in Washington County can be sold through July 10.

John Luther, Washington County emergency management director, said residents can set off fireworks any time during the year outside city limits and within the county unless a burn ban is issued.
