Police Say Woman Used Car as Weapon

FAYETTEVILLE — A woman faces criminal charges after police said she hit two people with her car Tuesday.

Officers arrested Darmesha Parks, 26, of 1322 E. Fairlane St. in connection with felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, reckless driving, second-degree battery and three counts of aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, driving on a suspended/revoked license, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Officers were called to the area of Curtis Avenue and Fairlane Street at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday for a disturbance.

Police Sgt. Craig Stout said Parks was “a victim of theft” and went to “confront the suspects.”

According to an arrest report, Parks threatened several people with a baseball bat.

Witnesses wrestled the bat away, at which point Parks tried to run over them in a Ford Five Hundred, according to the report.

One witness told officers Parks was “cutting doughnuts and trying to run over kids,” according to the report.

Stout said Parks hit two people, Antoinette Taylor, 22, and Brandon Daniels, 24.

Police said a 16-year-old was forced to jump off his bike and run to avoid being hit by Parks.

Taylor suffered broken toes and a possible broken foot; and Daniels suffered a broken jaw, Stout said.

Both were treated at the Washington Regional Medical Center.

Parks told officers she consumed two shots of alcohol earlier in the day, according to the report.

Parks’ blood alcohol level was 0.07, according to police. The legal limit of intoxication in Arkansas is 0.08.

Parks was in the Washington County Detention Center on $6,465 bond Wednesday.
