100 YEARS AGO Jan. 31, 1913 JONESBORO — A ruse on the part of Ellis Hall, county jailer, probably prevented a jail delivery here today. Having overheard several prisoners planning to escape, Hall led them to believe he was ignorant of their plans and told them he was gong out to serve some legal papers. Once on the outside, Jailer Hall watched, and caught the men at work attempting to drill a hole through the brick wall of the jail.
