Opening of the 30th annual Northwest Arkansas Senior High Art Exhibition, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Arts Center of the Ozarks, Springdale Clay 4 Cancer starts Saturday

Washington Regional Cancer Support Home will host a Clay 4 Cancer workshop Saturday through April 27. Cancer patients are invited to create a two-dimensional, clay mosaic as part of the class.

Finished pieces will be 24-by-17-inches plus a frame. Participants can choose from a variety of designs or bring their own.

Classes run 1-3 p.m. each Saturday except for Feb. 16 or March 23; registration is required. More information is available by calling (479) 521-8024.

  • ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Playwright hosts workshop, forum

Playwright Stephen Karam will lead a writing workshop and an artist’s forum Saturday at the Fayetteville Public Library. The events are hosted by Fayetteville’s TheatreSquared, which will host a performances of Karam’s play Sons of the Prophet starting Feb. 13.

Karam is a 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist and the winner of the Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards for Best Play.

Karam will lead a playwriting workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event is open to the public, but registration is required.

A TheatreSquared artist’s forum on Sons of the Prophet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. that day. Robert Ford, the theater group’s artistic director, and Kyle Kellams of KUAF’s “Ozarks at Large” will join Karam for a discussion of the play.

Cast members also will perform an excerpt from the play and highlights from the event will be broadcast on KUAF.

  • ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Geek the Library set for Saturday

The Rogers Public Library will host Geek the Library 2.0 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Guests can try new products like smart phones, tablets, computers, Windows 8 machines, digital cameras and more.

Area businesses will have booths to display the hottest new products, and guests will be able to try them. The library also will have a booth to showcase its latest machines, e-books and downloadable audiobooks.

A Minecraft tournament is planned. Admission is free.
