Police Suspect Foul Play In Death

Woman, 50, Died After Casino Visit

— Fort Smith police detectives Friday continued the homicide investigation of a 50-yearold Fort Smith woman who was found dead in her home Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesman Sgt. Daniel Grubbs said detectives interviewed potential witnesses and sought subpoenas for information in an effort to piece together the last moments in the life of Sakounswk Vilayhong of 2101 Kelley Highway.

Vilayhong’s husband, Samdy, found his wife not breathing on the floor of their living room when he returned home from work about 4 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the police department.

The police suspect foul play because of “suspicious injuries” on Vilayhong that emergency responders and police found when they arrived at the home, according to the news release. Because of the ongoing investigation, Grubbs said he could not identify those injuries or how they were suspicious.

A preliminary investigation Thursday showed that Vilayhong was at the Choctaw Casino in Pocola, Okla., from about 8:30 a.m. to about 1:50 p.m. before returning home, according to the news release.

On Friday, Grubbs said, investigators were seeking subpoenas for such information as cell-phone and banking records andinformation from the casino. They also were interviewing the people who last saw or were with Vilayhong and others who might help determinewhat happened to her.

Vilayhong’s body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock, according to the release.

There were no arrests in the case Friday and no suspects or persons of interest identified, Grubbs said.
