Where I live: I live in Centerton, right outside Bentonville. It’s nice and quaint, with kind of that small-town feel. It’s in a nice subdivision that has amenities like a pool, a clubhouse and a workout room. It’s a pretty plain starter home, but we’ve done some do-it-yourself upgrades to make it our own. We’ve gone with a French country theme and added some green shutters.

Occupation: Executive director of the Northwest Arkansas Community College Foundation. Our primary goal is to help support the college, whether that’s scholarships, providing program dollars or capital improvements like buildings. I have been executive director for three years.

My favorite space: Our backyard.

Why? We’ve really put a lot of work into it over the last two years. We had a pergola built, and we also had a patterned concrete patio laid. We started with a 10-by-10 slab of concrete and have created a charming oasis. The pergola was my husband’s design. It is a great escape in all seasons, whether we’re barbecuing on the grill in the summer or cozying up by the fire pit in the winter.

If I could do one thing to improve this space, I would: Do more landscaping.
