Police Link Employee to Theft

— A former Walmart employee faces a felony charge after police said he stole electronic items returned to the store by customers.

Police arrested Kevin Leroy Hull, 39, of 115 San Jose Drive in Springdale on Wednesday in connection with felony theft of property.

Police received a theft report from an asset protection employee Friday at the Walmart Superstore store on Mall Avenue in Fayetteville.

According to an arrest report, Hull stole about $5,000 worth of electronic items from the store during the past six months. He worked in the claims department and was responsible for documenting and accounting items previously purchased and returned by customers.

An internal investigation revealed Hull pawned several of the items for cash.

Police said Hull admitted taking the items and pawning them or giving them to friends and family members.

He said “he knew what he was doing was wrong,” according to the report, but he did it for the money and because the items were easy to take.

Hull was in the Washington County Detention Center without bond Wednesday.
