PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Nation Needs Honest Representatives

DEADLY NEW HOMES?

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I just finished reading “Profiles in Courage” for the second time and remembered the one trait common to all those men: They put the country ahead of their party, ahead of the people they represented, ahead of their own re-election. Who in Washington would do that today?

Some elected officials should be tried for treason.

Some are deliberately destroying the greatest country the world has ever seen, and all for either reelection or their hate for the other party.

I feel like I have absolutely no control. The most I can do is vote, and it doesn’t seem to do any good since many, if not most, voters fail to realize what is happening to this country.

Some senator or representative needs to have the guts to take a bold step to publicly and profoundly voice what is going on.

The problems we have could fairly easily be fixed if enough people had the guts to do it. The illegal alien situation could easily be fixed. The debt problem could easily be fixed.

But without a few truly honest congressmen to address these problems, my grandchildren will grow up a poor white minority in a second-rate country, and all because no one had the guts to do anything about it.

Springhill Subdivision

in Springdale is a very poorly planned subdivision with only one road, Springhill Avenue, for ingress and egress.

Currently, you can’t get into and out of Springhill safely during rush hour both mornings and evenings, especially while school is in session. Each time you combine this traffic with the traffic generated from the new school, residents of Springhill end up taking their lives in their hands just to leave or return home. Springhill subdivision definitely needs another way in and out.

If the city allows Rausch Coleman Homes to build another 100 homes in Springhill without creating an additional way in and out, the intersection of Springhill Avenue and Silent Grove Road will become a death trap during rush hour. I believe it will only be a matter of time before someone, maybe a child, is killed or seriously injured at this intersection. The city should send someone to monitor what is happening at this intersection during rush hour before it allows any more traffic to be generated here. The city might save a life.
