PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Fayetteville Facilities Go Above And Beyond

On a recent day, the Veterans Home at Fayetteville surprised my mother- and father-in-law with a romantic dinner for two to celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary. Complete with flowers and a little wedding cake, they set up a table just for the two of them in the library on the fifth floor.

My father-in-law is a resident and his physical condition now prevents him from getting out. In truth, the care he receives has made the VA “home sweet home” to him. My mother-in-law lives at Brookstone Assisted Living and they take her for weekly visits.

The two facilities go beyond what is considered care for their residents.

HUNTING NOT THE FOCUS The Second Amendment of these United States, according to the liberal, progressive Democrats reads: “A well restricted National Guard, being necessary to help out during natural disasters, the right of the people to go deer hunting shall not be infringed.”

The real Second Amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Nowhere in the Second amendment does it say anything about hunting. For those who say the framers of the Constitution didn’t mean common citizens should have the same weapons as the military, let me remind you the Constitution’s fi rst 10 amendments known as the Bill of Rights were ratified in 1791. It was just 15 years prior that the 13 united colonies took up arms and fought for the right to become free and independent states.

Now you will say the framers couldn’t imagine the fire arms we have now.

That may be true but they also couldn’t have imagined the Internet either. So should we restrict the Internet?

I’m a truck driver and when I heard about the shooting in Connecticut on that Friday morning, I had to pull oft the road because I couldn’t see through the tears. I just sat there and cried and prayed for the children and families affected. But I know restricting my right to bear arms will not stop the next criminal from killing innocent people.

If we agree and ban all fire arms in Amerika (not a typo) and someone goes to a school as it’s getting out and knocks out the bus driver and drives the bus oft a bridge, do we then ban buses?

If the Democrats really wanted to stop the killing of children, they’d ban abortion that kills thousands of innocent children every year. But they can’t do that because that would infringe on the right of a woman to kill a innocent life and Obamacare would lose money.
