— TRACK AND FIELD UA women third at A&M Triangular

The No. 7 Arkansas women’s track and field team won seven events and finished third in the team standings Saturday at the Texas A&M Triangular meet at College Station, Texas.

No. 4 LSU finished with 107.5 points to top the field, with No. 6 Texas A&M second with 103.5 points and Arkansas third with 103.

Arkansas athletes turned in three national-leading efforts: Regina George won the 400 meters in 53.30, Sandi Morris cleared 14 feet, 1 3/4 inches in the pole vault and the 4x400 relate team of Chrishuna Williams, Makeba Alcide, Gwendolyn Flowers and George finished in 3:36.03.

Other individual winners for the Razorbacks were Martine Borge (2:11.28) in the 800, Diane Robinson (9:19.79) in the 3,000 and Ivanique Kemp (8.37) in the 60-meter hurdles. Arkansas’ distance medley relay team of Andrina Schlaepfer, Borge, Grace Heymsfield and Dominique Scott also won in 11:33.56.

Arkansas men second at A&M

Arkansas’ top-ranked men’s track team won five events and finished second Saturday at the Texas A&M Triangular in College Station, Texas.

No. 4 Texas A&M won the meet with 128.5 points, while the Razorbacks finished second with 99 points and LSU was third with 82.5 points.

Arkansas’ Tomas Squella won the 800 meters in 1:49.81, Cale Wallace won the 3,000 in 8:21.27 and Caleb Cross won the 60-meter hurdles in 7.89. Kevin Lazas won the pole vault by clearing 17 feet, 3 1/2 inches, and Tarik Batchelor won the triple jump with a leap of 51 feet, 4.25 inches.

GYMNASTICS Kentucky drops Arkansas to 0-2

No. 14 Kentucky defeated No. 9 Arkansas 195.500 to 193.075 at Memorial Gym on Friday night in Lexington, Ky., dropping the Razorbacks to 0-2 overall and in the SEC this season.

Arkansas’ Heather Elswick scored 9.825 in the vault to tie Kentucky’s Holly Cunningham for first place in the vault, while Arkansas’ Sydnie Dillard tied Kentucky’s Shannon Mitchell and Marissa Beuchler with a score of 9.825 to share first place on the beam.
